Systems Engineer - IT - Dublin

Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer works as a core team member within a team of IT Infrastructure professionals in order to support my client’s custom software applications. This position has primary responsibility for maintaining both physical and virtual systems in a 24x7 production environment. The Systems Engineer works very closely with the IT Application Support team, DBA group, and the IT Architecture team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for daily management of Windows based systems in all my clients defined environments including diverse geographical locations & multiple data-centres
• Build and configure hardware and virtual machines which include server operating system installations, including Windows clustering
• Day-to-day responsibility for troubleshooting, change management, security, and monitoring of all IT Infrastructure systems
• Work closely with the application support team in supporting infrastructure for custom software deployments
• Expected to provide feedback on areas of responsibility which will enhance the overall solutions for infrastructure technologies
• Maintain excellent working relationships with vendors in regards to service and support
• Complete Service Desk tickets related to infrastructure requests
• Assist in implementing and testing new technologies and solutions
• Provide adequate documentation of procedures relating to job responsibilities
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• In depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS’s
• Demonstrated hands-on experience building virtual servers using VMware
• 3+ years of Systems Engineer/Administrator, systems administration, and infrastructure systems support
• Patch management, web infrastructure design, and infrastructure experience with the ability to use operating system level and architecture understanding for solutions and troubleshooting
• Basic understanding of networking technologies, including protocols and routing
• 3+ years experience in technical support position in medium to large client/server environment
• Technical knowledge of server systems hardware
• Extremely detail oriented with excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and record keeping skills
• Positive, self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills
