Fundraising Manager
at Habitat for Humanity Ireland in Co. Dublin
Conditions: Full time three year contract subject to 8 month probationary period.
Key tasks: In accordance with Habitat for Humanity Ireland’s agreed strategic priorities the post holder will coordinate HFH Ireland’s campaign to raise financial and in-kind donations from grant making bodies, individuals, corporate sector and businesses. S/he will be expected to work with the Executive Director, HFH International Office and other staff in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies.
OVERVIEW OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IRELAND
Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit organisation that aims to eliminate poverty housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes and by making decent housing a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity does not build houses for people; it builds with them. We work together with homeowners and volunteers to construct, renovate or refurbish homes, using donations of money, land and materials. Once completed, houses are sold to partner families at no profit, providing a hand up, rather than a hand out.
Habitat for Humanity Ireland supports the international efforts of Habitat for
Humanity by sending teams of Irish volunteers overseas to help build homes through its Global Village programme. The Global Village programme has been in operation since 2004 and in that time has sent almost 1500 volunteers to over 20 different countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe. We also work to address inadequate housing issues in Ireland and are currently partnering with Dublin City Council on the renovation of homes in Inchicore.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
• A background in marketing, fundraising or a related discipline
• Minimum of two years experience in fundraising and donor relationship management
• High level of computer literacy and proficiency especially with Microsoft
• Office suite of programmes
• Track record of reaching and/or exceeding ambitious targets and increasing revenue
Desirable:
• Experience in researching and writing funding proposals
• Experience of Direct Marketing campaigns
• Experience in creating and maintaining database records
SKILLS & APTITUDES
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to work without close supervision, to use initiative and meet deadlines
• A committed team player
• Sympathetic to the ethos, vision and values of Habitat for Humanity Ireland and comfortable communicating this to potential sponsors and donors
• Flexible and available to work occasional evenings or weekends as necessary
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement detailed fundraising plans to meet the fundraising objectives as set out in the HFH Ireland 5-year strategic plan
• Develop and implement specific fundraising strategies for each programme including corporates, businesses, legacy programme, gifts in kind, churches and individuals
• Research and write detailed proposals for corporate and other public and private funding bodies
• Develop new and existing corporate partnerships to encourage significant sponsorship
• Work with Volunteer Programme Managers to optimise volunteer and corporate short, medium and long term engagement
• Develop and manage a detailed database of fundraising opportunities and prospects
• Submit weekly reports to Executive Director, and monthly reports to HFH European head office
OTHER
• A full clean driving licence and access to transport for work purposes
• Observe all relevant Health & Safety rules and regulations of HFH
• Undertake all relevant training and development opportunities, both locally and overseas, as required
• Undertake all duties in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained and that HFH Ireland’s public profile is protected and enhanced
