Application Support Specialist

The role will involve providing first line application support to Input Systems’ customers. The Input Systems range of products includes ERP software; systems integration solutions and business intelligence solutions.

Candidates will be required to work in a fast moving team environment and have the flexibility to work effectively with other parts of the organisation.

This role will provide candidates with client facing experience, development of SQL and technical skills, and experience supporting Microsoft based applications and integrated solutions.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Promptly record and respond to all support requests logged with the Support desk via phone or email.
• Prioritise support requests based on business impact and service level objectives.
• Recognise and escalate critical problems.
• Diagnose and resolve support requests, update the tracking system with actions and outcomes.
• Proactively and professionally communicate with clients while working on an issue.
• Take ownership for bringing issues to a close in a timely manner.
• Be proactive in liaising with other support personnel and development staff where necessary to close out support requests.
• Assist other support personnel where required.
• Escalate to development where necessary, e.g. complex issue or one where a bug appears to be the cause.
• Identify and implement work arounds to issues as quickly as possible, if necessary while longer term resolutions are being developed.

Essential skills
• Third level qualification in IT.
• Basic knowledge of databases (preferably Microsoft SQL Server).
• Basic proficiency in SQL.
• Understanding of basic accounting language and concepts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner.
• Ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Excellent organisational skills and time management skills.
• Experience with issue tracking and proactively responding to issues.

Additional / desirable skills
• Client facing experience.
• Experience with ERP software or a wide range of business processes.
• Exposure to / experience with SSIS in SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 would be an advantage.
